I studied product design in Germany and moved to Japan after my graduation in 2018. The first time I came to Japan (2016), I noticed the excessive use of plastic packaging and the loss of resources by waste incineration. I became more and more aware that I as a designer have a responsibility to not create products that become waste in the first place. Together with activists from Japan and all over the world, I initiated 土帰doki in Sendai last year to create a system of responsible nutrient management. Our first step towards a world without waste is a subscription-based vegetable box combined with a biowaste pickup service. For that, we collaborate with organic farmers from Miyagi, as well as other small local businesses.
