人の命や生活の質に直結する、医療・ヘルスケア分野。この分野でのイノベーションが世界各地で起きています。解決すべき課題も、その多くは日本国内に限られたものではありません。この分野に特化して多くのスタートアップの技術・サービスの事業化を手掛けてきたMedTech ActuatorのCEOから世界のトレンドをシェアしつつ、実際に世界の患者のために奮闘するスタートアップと対談します。また、MedTech Actuatorとジェトロが共同実施するピッチコンペティションについてもご紹介します。日本予選を勝ち抜けば、近年同分野で注目されているオーストラリアに派遣され、現地の起業家やスタートアップなどと切磋琢磨し、交流できるチャンスです！是非お見逃しなく！
The medical and healthcare innovation are directly related to human life or quality of life and are taking place all over the world. Many of the issues to be solved are not limited to Japan.
The CEO of MedTech Actuator, which has been involved in commercializing the technologies and services of many startups specializing in this field, will share global trends and talk with a startup that are actually struggling to help patients around the world.
We will also introduce a pitch competition jointly conducted by MedTech Actuator and JETRO. If you win the Japan preliminary round, you will be sent to Australia, a country that has been attracting attention in the medical, healthcare and life science field in recent years, where you will have a chance to be connected with local entrepreneurs and startups in a friendly competition! 近年、医療・ヘルスケア・ライフサイエンスの分野で注目されているオーストラリアにおけるキーパーソン。2018年にMedTech Actuatorを共同創業。多くのベンチャーキャピタルやテクノロジーや製品開発のイニシアティブに関わる。元整形外科医という経歴に加え再生医療にも造詣が深いシリアルアントレプレナー。自身での起業のみならず、500社を超えるスタートアップの相談に対応し、資金調達の手助けをしてきた。政府のアドバイザーやメルボルン大学の教授も務める。
Buzz Palmer is one of Australia’s most prominent voices in health entrepreneurship and medical technology innovation. He co-founded the MedTech Actuator – in 2018 and is strongly involved in a number of venture capital and technology/product development initiatives. With a background in orthopaedic and regenerative medicine and a proven track record as an entrepreneur across the EU, India, Africa, the Arabian Gulf and Asia Pacific, he has not only built his own ventures but has consulted with over 500 startups, helping them raise over $150M. Buzz is ideally positioned to strategically drive innovative medical solutions that provide a significant impact on society while bringing a global perspective on healthcare innovation and commercialisation, A regular advisor to governments at all levels and a Professor at University of Melbourne, Buzz is passionate about catalysing innovation and supporting the founders who drive it.

正看護師として4年勤務後、家族が肺がんになりその後自身も悪性リンパ腫に罹り2021年に闘病を経験。がんと診断されてから、正しい医療情報や闘病仲間を見つけにくい課題、治療や生死に関する不安といった精神的苦痛をオンラインで相談できる場所が少ないという課題、闘病中・後のキャリア問題など多くの課題を見つけ、それらを解決するサービスCureMindを開発中。

平井 志穂 氏（Shiho HIRAI）

スタートアップのグローバル展開をサポートしており、昨年度、MedTech Actuatorとの共同事業を実施。ジェトロ入構後、科学技術関連事業および日本のコンテンツの海外輸出サポートなどを行い、2013年に出身地である大阪本部へ。大阪本部では、海外ビジネス情報の普及セミナー実施や外国人材の雇用促進などを行い、2019年からスタートアップ支援に携わる。
Shiho is a supporter of startups and conducted MedTech Program with Buzz last year. After joining JETRO, she was incharge of science and technology related projects and overseas export support for Japanese contents before moving to her hometown, Osaka.
At JETRO Osaka, she planned many seminars to share overseas business trend, promoted employment of foreign professionals and so on, and from 2019, she has been in charge of supporting global expansion of startups.
